Rachel + Jack's Adventurous, Summer Engagement Session at Cave Point & Whitefish Dunes in Door County, Wisconsin

When Rachel and Jack started envisioning their engagement session, they knew that they wanted an experience that would capture their love in a place that they love, and would make them feel like their most authentic selves. They were really excited to have images that would capture the fun that they have together and the connection they share. They adventure together often and had the perfect place in mind. Rachel and Jack have been traveling to Door County together since they started dating, and now every year it's become their go-to relaxing escape from their lovely, but bustling lives in Minneapolis. They couldn't think of a more perfect location to be the backdrop for their adventurous engagement session.

In the weeks leading up to their session, the three of us co-created an epic engagement session that came to life on a drizzly, July day in Door County. We started the session at a place we all love, Cave Point County Park. Even though the weather wasn't quite what we had hoped for, it was still picture perfect.

The high waves on Lake Michigan made for some epic photos of the water crashing against the cliffs at Cave Point. We spent the first part of the session just chatting and getting Rachel and Jack comfortable in front of the camera. We talked about their jobs, their upcoming wedding in Grand Teton National Park (which we are SO excited to be photographing!), and our mutual love of animals.

The second spot Rachel and Jack chose for their engagement session was Whitefish Dunes State Park. The wind really added to the romance of the experience, blowing Rachel's hair and shawl in the breeze. It's always a little cooler on Lake Michigan, so Rachel and Jack had to snuggle up a bit to stay warm! They frolicked in the waves and dug their toes in the sand, stealing kisses as they went.

We believe engagement sessions are worth celebrating, and these two took it to another level! Rachel and Jack wrapped their engagement session into a weekend getaway in Door County. It’s always so fun to see a couple’s vision materialize in the magical ways that they do. We can’t wait for the adventure to continue with Rachel and Jack’s mountain wedding in Wyoming!

Much love and appreciation,

Kate
