Neela + Hunter's Roaring 20s Forest Wedding in Peninsula State Park

Neela and Hunter are two of the most effervescent and outgoing people I've ever met. They are so perfectly matched, I'm convinced that they were married in a past life; they’re the definition of soulmates. I had the pleasure of meeting these two lovebirds at Hinterland Brewery in 2017 when we all worked there together. But their story starts long before that…

Neela and Hunter went to high school together, but they had hung out only a couple times. They reconnected in 2016 and hit it off from there. Hunter caught feelings before Neela did; she wanted to wait a couple of months before she started dating again. Hunter was in it for the long haul, so he waited for four and a half months before Neela let him into her life completely. She says it’s the best decision she’s ever made.

Neela and Hunter knew they were going to get married. For months, Neela kept bugging Hunter about what his plan was, and every time she asked, he wouldn't budge. Everyone at Hinterland knew his proposal plan, which drove Neela crazy. Everyone kept it a secret.

Hunter studied abroad in Spain in 2018, and Neela went to visit him with a couple friends while he was there. They explored so many beautiful places and ate some amazing food (Neela and Hunter are foodies, so you know their recommendations are on point). Their group headed to San Sebastian where, unbeknownst to Neela, Hunter planned to propose. Upon their arrival, they grabbed some coffee and went to climb Mount Urgull. The view at the top overlooks the entire city of San Sebastian and the ocean beyond it. It was the most gorgeous spot Neela had ever seen. Hunter made his was over to Neela while they were looking out over the ocean and beach and he whispered, "Do you want to know my plan?" Neela’s heart sank and rose and died and rebirthed itself. She lost it because she knew what was coming next. He got down on one knee and asked Neela to marry him. Naturally, Neela backed into a wall, crying, and  told him "Sí!", which she felt was appropriate because they were in Spain. Everything after that was a blur because Neela was so excited to be engaged to her best friend in the entire world.

From the beginning, Neela and Hunter knew they wanted to do things differently for their wedding. They invited their closest friends and family to celebrate their wedding ceremony in Peninsula State Park in beautiful Door County, Wisconsin. They found these amazing Airbnbs to get ready at, where Neela was able to hang out with her ladies, and Hunter could it get ready with the gentlemen. Neela envisioned wearing a black wedding dress and found the absolute perfect dress that matched their Roaring 20s theme.

Peninsula State Park is one of the most popular locations in Door County. It has a two-lane road that winds through the park, and is notorious for traffic backups during the peak months and on the weekends. We had to delay the start of the wedding a bit because many of the guests were stuck in traffic, but we were able to easily rework their photo timeline so we didn't miss a beat.

After their beautiful ceremony among the trees in Peninsula State Park, Neela, Hunter, and their wedding guests made their way back to Green Bay for an absolutely divine dinner at Three Three Five. I already mentioned that Neela and Hunter are foodies, so it was no surprise that they would pick one of the most interesting, intimate, and delicious restaurants in Northeast Wisconsin to host their wedding reception. Guests were able to graze at the overflowing food stations set up throughout the space and indulge in delicious cocktails and wine. To up the wow factor even more, Neela and Hunter changed into stylish power suits for their reception. The speeches were shared from on top of the chef’s table overlooking the kitchen. It was a night to remember, celebrating two souls deeply in love.

Thank you for choosing us to capture your wedding day, it was truly a pleasure.

Much love and appreciation,

Kate
