Kristin + Shawn's Lakefront Friends-Themed Wedding in Eagle River, WI

Kristin and Shawn have a really special story. They first met in 1993 and dated before moving on to different relationships. Years later, they found their way back to one another and knew that this time around, it was meant to be. They believe in true love and fairy tales because of the romance that they share.

Shawn had the perfect plan to propose. He knew Kristin had wanted family photos taken for a long time, so he hired a professional photographer for the occasion. This was the perfect distraction for Kristin, who did not suspect a thing. Once the family reached the rose garden within the beautiful Paine Gardens, the whole family made way so that the photographer could capture Shawn down on one knee to ask Kristin for a life of happiness together. Amongst all their family, and a backdrop of roses Kristin said yes.

Kristin and Shawn had to rework their wedding plans due to COVID, but in my opinion, their new plan was such a beautiful, wonderful way to celebrate these two lovely people. The new plan included a wedding on a lake in Eagle River, Wisconsin with their closest friends and family surrounding them. They envisioned a small BBQ after the ceremony with music, dancing, and a campfire, which was exactly what they got. The relocation also avoided the tornado warnings that were taking place at their original wedding location!

Kristin and Shawn are huge fans of the TV show “Friends”, so there were many amazing Friends details spread throughout their day, from their signage to their jewelry to their socks. I'm a huge Friends fan (Chandler is my favorite character!), and even own the whole series on DVD, so it was super fun to see these touches come through on their wedding day.

As Kristin and her team got ready at a nearby hotel, the day looked like it was going to be rainy and poor weather. Just before the ceremony, the sprinkles stopped and left a romantic mood in the air. Both Kristin and Shawn were a bit nervous but just so excited for this day to finally be here, when they would finally be husband and wife. One of the coolest things that they brought into their wedding day was the way everyone walked down the aisle – they all DANCED. It was such a joyous fun celebration. Shawn had tears in his eyes as Kristin emerged from the cabin and walked down the aisle towards him, a vision in her soft pink gown. Their dear friend officiated the ceremony and had many people emotional with the sweet words that were shared.

After a Breakfast-Club-style-fist-pump-first-kiss, Kristin and Shawn took some time for wedding photos around the lake before they dug into their BBQ. They enjoyed food and cocktails around the fire with their friends and family, playing with the family pups that roamed around during the festivities. Kristin did a quick dress change after dinner, slipping into a simple cream-colored cocktail dress that would make partying the night away a bit easier.

Kristin and Shawn, I am so grateful that our paths crossed in the beautiful way they did. Your love story and families are incredible, and it’s been my pleasure to get to know you all. Wishing you a lifetime of love, fun, adventure, and companionship. Cheers to the two of you.

Much love and appreciation,

Kate
