Joanna + Derek's Fall Wedding in Green Bay, Wisconsin

It was a perfect fall day as Joanna and Derek prepared for their big day. Full of jitters and excitement, Joanna stood at the very top of the stairway, while Derek stood at the bottom to partake in their first “not look” before the ceremony. Joanna beamed, asking, “How are you? Are you okay? I love you, I miss you!” making sure Derek was supported. Derek brings out the most beautiful smile to Joanna’s face, the one where her nose wrinkles and her eyes light up. The love and consideration Joanna and Derek have for each other radiates pure, joyful love. After their first “not look,” they were practically shaking with happiness, and crying a bit as Joanna and Derek were whisked off to walk down the aisle.

Family and friends gathered at the gorgeous Devotions Wedding Chapel in Greenleaf to witness Joanna’s brother walk her down the aisle towards the love of her life. A huge supporter in Joanna’s life, it was important for Joanna to be escorted by her brother, and handed off to Derek by both her brother and her mom. Capturing the meaningful moments, KLEM’s Associate Photographer, Krista, made sure to document Joanna and her brother walking down the aisle. Reaching Derek, Joanna immediately gave him a peck, not letting tradition prevent her from kissing her future husband on their important day. During their ceremony, Joanna and Derek read their own vows, expressing how they would support each other. Before saying I do, a wrist wrapping ceremony brought Joanna and Derek into the bond of marriage, and provided a powerful visual from where the phrase “tying the knot” originated.

Pronounced husband and wife, Joanna energetically kissed Derek for the first time as a married couple. Beautiful fall colors provided the most vivid backdrop as we took photos in and around the chapel. Taking advantage of the perfect weather, we snapped some photos on the track and football field of their old stomping grounds, St. Norbert College, making sure to pop some Champagne!

The party bus carried the wedding party laughing and singing to Hilly Haven Golf Course where Joanna and Derek spent two hours hanging out with their closest friends and family jamming out to music, eating appetizers, and partaking in golf simulations. Most importantly, Joanna and Derek spent time together with the people in their life that mattered most to them; no grand show necessary, just quality time together to celebrate.

The reception continued at The Ravine were Joanna and Derek made sure to greet everyone and show their appreciation for the support of their family and friends. The whole reception was decorated for their amazing day, adding to the magical and energetic atmosphere. Joanna and Derek couldn’t keep their hands off each other, going everywhere together, smiling, and sharing kisses.

It was an immensely beautiful wedding day that Joanna and Derek put together. Anyone privileged to know these two, know how considerate and loving they are. We wish you a lifetime of happiness, love, and friendship. Cheers to the two of you, and thank you for choosing us to be a part of your wedding day.

Much love and appreciation,

Kate (and Krista!)
