Amanda + Tom's Milwaukee Engagement Session: Love, Laughter, and Bucks Fandom
It’s always fun for us when, as photographers, our work allows us to explore places we don’t frequent. Milwaukee is such a gem of a city, and it’s only about two hours from where KLEM Studios is based, but we admittedly don’t get to play in the city as much as we would like. So when Amanda and Tom asked us if we would be willing to go to Milwaukee for their engagement session, we wholeheartedly said yes!
I got to hang out with Amanda and Tom in their beautiful apartment in the historic Third Ward while Amanda got her hair and makeup done by our glam team. We talked about their upcoming wedding plans, their epic honeymoon that they’re planning in Hawaii, and I got to meet their sweet cat, Bella!
Our first stop was Lakefront Brewery, which has some prime real estate right on the river. They grabbed glasses of the classic River West Stein amber ale, and we headed outside to mingle amongst the other Friday afternoon imbibers. It’s always interesting to see how other people react to a couple getting their engagement photos taken. Some simply yell, “Congratulations!”, some offer unsolicited advice, and others just smile and admire from afar. Amanda and Tom had strangers celebrating them all throughout the session!
Spring in the city is beautiful with some trees starting to blossom and green grass poking through. it’s always so appreciated when a couple is willing to go with the flow and trust your spontaneity when you find beautiful locations as you're adventuring during your session. It was clear that Amanda and Tom were just grateful to be in each other’s company in the city they love so much. We took time for them to reflect on their relationship and shared some sweet memories with one another. At one point, they said that they were feeling butterflies again after one of the prompts I had given them – how sweet is that?!
Amanda and Tom are Milwaukee Bucks fans, and we’re excited to celebrate that the Bucks have made the playoffs. There was a game later that night, so we had adjusted the timing of our session so that when we wrapped up, they could go down to the Deer District and be in the energy of the other tens of thousands of people watching the game downtown. Our last spot was a park near the Buck’s arena where they popped open a bottle of champagne and then strolled down the riverwalk, enjoying the sunset glow on the tall buildings around them.
At Tom’s request, we snapped a few photos of them in their Bucks gear before they headed off to the festivities. Beers in hand, they both shared how much fun they had during the session and how they were even more excited for their wedding. I can safely say, the feeling is mutual! Cheers to these two adorable lovebirds; we can’t wait for your elegant fall wedding!!
