Vendor Love: Liz with From This Day Forward, Wisconsin Wedding Planning and Coordination

Let's be honest, planning your wedding isn't all sunshine and rainbows all the time. There are a lot of decisions to be made, and it can be really stressful. Pinterest inspires so many ideas, it can be hard to have it all come together. Even more daunting can be the task of selecting vendors and delegating tasks to friends and family the day of your wedding and the days leading up to it. I've got good news for you, friend. You're not alone. If you've worked with me, you already know that I make your photography experience as warm and stress-free as possible. But BONUS, I've worked with a ton of vendors in the Wisconsin wedding industry, therefore I know who to recommend to make your day go even more smoothly. That gets you one step closer to your dream wedding day.

Today, I'd like to introduce you to Liz Walker, owner of From This Day Forward Wedding Planning. Liz provides everything from day-of coordination to partial planning to all-inclusive wedding planning services. Located in Brussels, WI, Liz typically serves couples getting married around Northeast Wisconsin, but she travels well outside that radius as well! I had the pleasure of sitting down with Liz a few weeks ago and really digging into the ins and outs of her business to further show wedding planning couples how amazing it is to work with a wedding planner:

What areas do you consider yourself most successful in helping your wedding clients?

Liz: I feel as though my calm demeanor, sense of humor and easy going personality help my clients feel at ease throughout the process and especially on their big day!

If you could give any advice to wedding planning couples, what would it be?

Liz: I've seen it time and time again, something is probably going to go not quite as planned on your wedding day. You can either take it as it comes, deal with the situation and let it go, or you can let it get to you and ruin your entire day. It is what it is. And you know what? I bet you're the only one who noticed what didn't go the way you pictured it in your mind. So, just move on and remember the big picture of why you're there that day.

What makes your location/service unique?

Liz: That's a tough one. I think I am a very driven, friendly and hardworking individual who "gets" my clients. We have similar views on things and seem to live our lives in similar manners.

How many people are on your team?

Liz: I fly solo, but have hired additional staff when appropriate. Sometimes, you can't always be successful on your own and need the help of others.

How many years have you been providing services to wedding clients?

Liz: This is my second year of providing services to wedding clients...and a good one, at that!

How many wedding clients do you take on each year? Do you take on other clients as well?

Liz: I take on approximately 30 clients each year.

What type of wedding client will be happiest at your location/with the services you provide?

Liz: I love all my clients, but feel as though it is the ones that most resemble myself, are the happiest and most grateful for my services.

What is the price range of your services?

Liz: $500-$2000, depending on the extent of the services desired.

Are your services available year-round?

Liz: Absolutely!

How far in advance do you recommend couples book your services? Are you available on short notice?

Liz: I recommend couples book my services as soon as possible, especially since dates fill quickly. I am available on short notice, if my schedule allows.

What do you think is most important for wedding planning couples to consider when they are researching vendors in your field of services?

Liz: I really feel as though couples should read many reviews, ask around and even make a surprise visit to see the vendors in action before booking.

What do you think is potentially the most stressful part of wedding planning? Do you have any tips on how to avoid this or get through this easily?

Liz: I think the most stressful part of wedding planning is not being organized. If you book your major vendors right away, stick to your budget, set a goal to accomplish x amount of wedding related tasks per month, create a detailed timeline, and communicate that information to all who need to know, your planning process will run more smoothly.

When you're not working, what are some of your favorite hobbies or past-times?

Liz: I have two children, Ella is 7 and Eli, 6. I also have a full-time job as a special education associate in the local school district and am also going to school to finish my teaching degree. When I do have time, taking three hour naps, drinking wine, kayaking, and spending time outdoors makes me happy.
