Five Best Places to Elope in Northeast Wisconsin
Eloping is beautiful for a wedding day that focuses on the two of you, what’s important to you, and what makes the two of you special. Rather than focus on tradition and big wedding plans, eloping can incorporate things you really want and enjoy, whether you love hiking, being outside, or have family land. Often, the wedding is tailored towards family or friends, rather than what’s important to you. That’s why I encourage eloping: an opportunity to actually create a wedding day that means something to you. Just because you want to elope, doesn’t mean you have to go really far away—especially on a limited budget. There are incredible places in northeast Wisconsin to elope that are going to give you an amazing, beautiful, and memorable wedding day, all without leaving your home state.
For a gem of a getaway location, Door County offers many opportunities and different venues. There are a variety of waterfront properties to choose from, including Cave Point, Peninsula State Park, Bjorklunden, Gordon Lodge, and Washington Island. The “thumb” of Wisconsin creates an absolutely stunning backdrop for your elopement. Johanna and Aaron had a beautiful engagement session in Cave Point last fall!
Shout out to all my outdoor peeps, a cabin or family property is an excellent option to show off your love for nature! Embracing the north woods vibe and utilizing a space that is special to you and your family encompasses a venue all about the two of you. My cousin, Jen, and John decided to wed on our grandmother’s beautiful lakefront property in the northwoods of Wisconsin. It made for such a meaningful day for everyone.
For a destination a bit more upscale, luxurious, and all exclusive, The American Club in Kohler is fantastic. They have a florist on staff, offer catering, and cakes are available for your elopement celebration. Hair and makeup specialists are even on hand for your every need. When the Kohler family took over the town of Riverside, near Sheboygan, in 1912 The American Club was constructed for immigrant workers to live, build a community, and even take English lessons. Since then, The American Club has turned into an historical, five star resort to fulfill your every need. Brandi and Josh eloped at The American Club and their wedding journey was so unique and special because they focused on what was important to them and their relationship.
In the quaint town of Hortonville, Givens Farm creates a romantic ambience practically in your backyard. Modeled after an Italian Château, many of the pieces and materials inside have been reclaimed with the Italian feel in mind. If this strikes your interest, feel free to read more about Givens Farm here.
Ledgestone Vineyard is a beautiful location open year round. Just outside of town, and along the Niagara escarpment, this is a great venue for people who love wine and the outdoors. Celebrate with a glass of wine surrounded by the sweet smell of grapes as you take in the view.
