Door County Wedding | Maxwelton Braes: Megan + Alvin Say I Do!

Morning thunderstorms and a threat of rain throughout the afternoon hung in the air as Megan and Alvin prepared to say I do. Full of excitement, close friends and family entered the Maxwelton Braes hotel and restaurant in Baileys Harbor, Door County. Megan and her bridesmaids buzzed about, being filled with wedding day jitters. Megan’s wedding day became even more real to her once she slipped into her wedding dress with the help of her maid of honor and mom; and she realized that she was actually going to get to marry Alvin that day!

Megan was an absolute beauty in her wedding dress, with a sweetheart neckline, sequins, lace, tulle, and off the shoulder, lace straps. The groomsmen were cool and collected in their array of grey suits, as Alvin primed himself to see Megan and his teenage daughter on this special day. It was clear Alvin, Megan, and his daughter share a great relationship.

Fortunately not a single drop fell during Megan and Alvin’s ceremony or reception. Alvin cried tears of happiness seeing his daughter, and as Megan’s father escorted her down the aisle. Their officiant gave a wonderfully personalized ceremony that talked about the beginning of their relationship, how Megan and Alvin got where they are today, and how amazing they are; highlighting their compatibility and true love. After exchanging vows and rings, they were officially husband and wife and shared a beautiful kiss.

The newlyweds surrounded themselves with truly wonderful people; and their wedding party was no exception. Whisked away for family and wedding party portraits at Anclam Park in Baileys Harbor, the dreamy, overcast skies and a light breeze made their beachside photos even more ethereal.

Beautiful blossoms, including a gorgeous statement piece on the piano, greeted Megan and Alvin as they returned to Maxwelton Braes for their reception. Mingling on the patio, family and friends played yard games and relaxed before a delicious dinner prepared from Thyme Cuisine within Maxwelton Braes.

Smiling with their surprise, Megan and Alvin stepped out onto the floor to reveal their talent from weeks of dancing lessons. “I’ve had the Time of my Live” from the film Dirty Dancing played as Megan and Alvin started their choreographed first dance surrounded by cheering guests. Megan and Alvin absolutely nailed the dance! It was so much fun to watch! There were two father/daughter dances, one for Megan and her dad, and one for Alvin and his daughter. Then the floor opened to their guests, and everyone had a great time as they packed the dance floor.

It was an immensely personal wedding that showed off how beautiful and strong Megan and Alvin’s connection is. Megan and Alvin, I wish you a lifetime of happiness. Thank you for choosing me to document one of the best days of your lives.

Much love and appreciation,

Kate
