Door County Engagement Session: Maryellen + Ryan
On an overcast and windy day, Maryellen started her engagement session prepping and getting her hair and makeup done by Angela Marie Makeup Artistry at her grandma’s house in Sturgeon Bay. Maryellen had been visiting this house since she was a child, and she shared memories about growing up, visiting her grandmother and reminiscing about how special that house is to her and her family.
Maryellen and Ryan knew they wanted to have their session in a place they really loved and visited often. Door County was the perfect place, especially with Maryellen’s family living in the area. Maryellen and Ryan had planned a weekend away to camp at Peninsula State Park, which perfectly aligned with their engagement session.
We started our session walking by the water near one of Sturgeon Bay’s marinas, before heading up to Peninsula State Park. Hand in hand, Maryellen and Ryan reminisced about the softball team they were apart of when they met. They shared five loving years as a couple, before Ryan proposed at half time during a basketball game at Maryellen’s alma mater which started the next part of their journey together.
Currently living in Northern Wisconsin, near the U.P. Boarder, Maryellen and Ryan talked about what it’s like to live in a small town. Their small town is actually an area I’ve driven through my whole life, because my grandma lived about twenty miles from where they currently live!
Maryellen and Ryan easily make each other laugh. They have the kind of love where they know if they hold out their hand, the other person will grab it without even looking. Maryellen says that Ryan feels like home and that they can literally do anything together. Maryellen and Ryan share a very connected, beautiful, and mature relationship that is going to stand the test of time.
Congratulations Maryellen and Ryan! It is such an honor to be a part of these incredible milestones in your lives, and we are looking forward to photographing your Door County wedding next year.
Much love and appreciation,
